The little Riolu tossed and turned about on the ground. He would grow still for a few moments, and then start moving again. This had gone on for the past two or so hours. Everyone else around the Riolu was sound asleep. He however couldn't find his peace for some reason. He wasn't cold, he wasn't hot, and nothing was making him itch or uncomfortable in any way.

He opened his eyes and looked about as he let out a frustrated sigh.

"You know you need to sleep." A voice said

"I know but I can't fall asleep Veruka." The Riolu replied looking over at the Monferno who sat on a nearby rock.

"Why is that Vincent? I've seen you toss and turn for two hours. You were up early this morning and didn't sleep any through the day."

"I don't know why, I just can't."

"You're just too active, if you would just keep yourself still for a few minutes you'd probably fall asleep."

"Why do I even need to sleep, you don't ever sleep."

"Actually I do, I just only need an hour or two. While you need a night's worth, which you're failing to get currently."

"I want to sleep but I can't."

Veruka sighed and let her seat on the rock and walked over to Vincent and sat beside him.

"Then would it help for me to sit here beside you?"

"It might."

"Anything else I could do that would possibly make it easier for you to fall asleep?"

"Not that I can think of."

"Then just close your eyes and relax."

"Okay." He replied as he closed his eyes once again.

He remained silent and still for a few minutes before he stirred again.

"Still can't sleep?"

"No, it just won't come."

Veruka was getting slightly irritated. She tried to be understanding of the situation at the same time. One idea popped into her mind, she wasn't fond of it but she didn't want Vincent to just toss and turn the night away.

"Vincent, would it help if you slept against me?"

"I don't know."

"Worth a shot, so get over here."

The Riolu moved himself to Veruka and leaned against her side.

"Any better?"

"Slightly I guess."

"Slightly won't cut it what more can I do?"

"Would you let me get in a more comfortable position against you? "

"What ever it takes, otherwise this night is gonna be long for the both of us."

Vincent rolled himself around and placed his head against Veruka's chest.

"You don't mind me trying like this do you?"

"If it gets you asleep I don't mind."

An almost motherly instinct made Veruka wrap her arms around Vincent who was now leaning face first against her torso.

"Veruka…I'm sorry if I've troubled you tonight."

"Don't worry about it you haven't. Just close your eyes and relax."

"Okay."

Veruka gently stroked the back of his head and began to slightly hum a low tune. And after a few minutes passed Vincent had finally fallen asleep.

"It's about time." Veruka said to herself.

The time passed on and it wasn't long before Veruka fell asleep, Vincent still resting peacefully in her arms.
