Only an hour had passed since the three trainers confronted their enemy. The fierce storm had subsided and all of the three trainers Pokémon had been taken to the center in Snowpoint. Jenna, Pogy, and Rtas were all inside the center seated at a table with warm drink and food waiting for their teams to be healed. Vincent and Veruka were both already treated as their injuries proved to be quite trivial compared to the rest. They were outside the center; both of them were seated on a log. Veruka wore a blue scarf and Vincent donned a red and white hat.
"You're doing okay right?" Vincent spoke
"Once again it's just few scratches. Right now as long as you tongue stays far away from my chest ring, I'll be just fine."
"Still sore about that huh?"
"Why do you even have to ask that when you already know the answer."
It grew quiet between the two for a few moments. Vincent gazed at Veruka's left arm where she had been cut by an ice shard. The wound was wrapped with bandages, but blood still showed through the bandages. Vincent gently placed his hand on her arm and slightly lifted it.
"That has to hurt."
"I assure you it doesn't."
"I can't help but to worry though."
"I'm still curious about your aura sphere."
"Oh yeah
" Vincent just remembered that he had used an aura sphere back at the lake. "It's odd, it happened so fast. I don't even know how I did it, it just happened."
"You're just full of surprises I suppose."
"I guess."
"Thank you
"
"Huh?"
"Thank you for catching me back there."
"Yeah, if you'd even call that a catch."
"It kept me from being much worse off than I am."
"You know there's a lot I would probably throw myself in the way of to keep you from being hurt."
"You'll end up killing yourself before it's over."
"If I do it would be worth it."
"You're crazy."
Jenna exited the center and looked about. When her eyes fell on Veruka and Vincent she made her way over to them.
"Well you two, their wrapping everything up now. We're about to head back home."
Veruka got up and then turned to Vincent "Infern."
"Cairo" Vincent spoke as he got up as well.
"Alright let's go grab the others and head home." Jenna spoke as she took out Veruka and Vincent's pokeballs. She recalled the two of them into their balls and walked back inside the center.
The nurse was bringing out two trays of pokeballs. Rex followed behind the nurse out of his ball.
"Well all of them have been tended to and should be in perfect fighting condition again."
"Well Rex that wound must have not been as bad as we thought." Pogy spoke gazing at Rex's left shoulder, which was absent of the wound inflicted earlier.
"It was a nasty one, but we've seen worse. His arm is just fine now." The nurse replied
"So everyone's back in good condition?" Jenna asked as she walked up.
"Yep, we all good." Rtas replied
"Indeed, and I believe the time has come to return to the ranch. We should be there by nightfall if we get moving very shortly." Pogy replied
"Alright then let's head out."
Pogy recalled Rex to his ball before the three trainers turned and walked towards the center exit.
"Be safe." The nurse said
Once outside Matthew, Celestine, and Rtas's Tropius were released from their balls.
"Lucky this time we don't have to fly through a snow storm." Pogy spoke
"Yeah, it'll be easier on all of us." Rtas replied
Pogy hopped onto Celestine's back. "Back to Jenna's ranch Cel."
"Gon!" Celestine exclaimed as she began flapping her wings.
Jenna and Rtas both hopped onto the back of their fliers. They all lifted up into the now clear sky and began the flight back to the southern end of Sinnoh.
~***~
It was a long three hour flight through the skies before the three trainers reached the ranch. The sun was already beginning to set. It was another tiring and unsuccessful day for them and all of them were waiting for a good night's sleep. They all landed just a few yards from the ranch house. Pogy and Jenna released all of their Pokémon from their balls upon getting off of their fliers.
Jenna and Rtas went into the ranch house to make them all some dinner. Pogy however went out to the cliff overlooking the sea.
Rex was staying a little ways from where Veruka and Vincent were walking.
"Don't mind me staying with you do you Veruka?"
"No Vincent I don't. Just don't do anything stupid and we'll have no problems."
Rex's gaze was set on Vincent. "Once again you surprise me somehow." Rex pondered for a few moments "But yet, you leave me confused." Rex moved his gaze to Pogy who was still standing on the cliff. Rex began his way over to Pogy.
Pogy's gaze was locked on the sun which was barely visible over the horizon. For some he could easily be mistaken for a statue. Rex came up behind him and stood silent for a few moments.
"You need something Rex?" Pogy spoke still facing the sea.
"I have something I wish to speak on sir." He replied taking a place aside Pogy.
"Yes, you said you had something to speak about back at the lake."
"It's about Jenna's Lucario."
"Vincent you mean?"
"Yes."
"What about him?"
"I've noticed many things about him during my time here."
"What kind of things?"
"All of Jenna's team and even Jenna herself say he can't use any special attacks."
"Yes, that is the case."
"He used an Aura sphere today at the lake."
"Odd."
"It was an aura sphere larger than mine."
"Very odd."
"This isn't the only thing I've noticed. After Nova had beaten Veruka, I looked over at Vincent. I saw a massive aura around him. I closed my eyes for a moment and when I opened them back up, that aura was gone. I saw that same aura today right before he used the aura sphere."
"He also used that Dragon Pulse on the day we arrived."
"He has powers I think. Maybe even more power than me."
"Odd that it has only shown only two or three times."
"I just don't think he knows how to harness his powers. It's very impossible for a Lucario to not have powers. However I believe it's quite possible for a Lucario to have powers, but be unable to call upon them on free will."
"So what are you getting at?"
"Well sir, would it not be to our benefit to have another powerful Lucario on our side against Dark Oak."
"It would be helpful."
"I think I can bring his powers out. I think I can teach him to call upon and use his powers at will."
"Go on."
"I would need time though."
"Time is something we have very little of Rex. He's looking for something I'm sure of it now. He gets closer to it by the hour."
"I know sir, but still it may be the edge we need."
Pogy held out his hand and extended three fingers. "I'll give you three days Rex. Three days we'll hold here and you can attempt to coax Vincent's powers out. After three days the first sign of Dark Oak we find we're going. If Dark Oak makes any very noticeable moves within the three days we move."
"Very well sir. But I will only do this if Vincent is willing."
"I would think so. I highly doubt you'd be a very easy teacher."
"I'll beat his hide red if I thought it would bring out his powers."
"Maybe it won't come down to that. But you have my permission to do whatever you deem right to do."
"Thank you sir."
Rex turned and began to walk away. "Rex." He came to a stop and turned back to face Pogy. "Three days Rex, starting tomorrow."
Vincent and Veruka were both seated on a fence not too far from the ranch house. They both had a bowl of food that they were eating at.
"Night's like this remind me of the old days." Vincent spoke
"You say that way too much." Veruka replied before taking another piece of food into her mouth.
"Don't you just miss it though? You a Monferno and me a Riolu."
"I remember you hitting on me from first word out of your mouth."
Vincent chuckled "Hey you were my hero back then, literally."
"Just because I came after you in that cave."
"That's enough reason for me."
"Excuse me you two."
They both turned to see Rex standing behind them.
"Hey Rex." Vincent spoke.
"Can I have a word with you Vincent? One on one?"
"Sure."
Vincent hopped off the fence and walked a few yards away from Veruka with Rex.
"What is it you want Rex?"
"A few things. Most concerning your recent handful of surprises."
"You mean the Aura sphere?"
"Partly. You used a Dragon Pulse the day we arrived here."
"I did didn't I."
"Yes, you did. I've also noticed a massive aura about you a time or two the past few days as well."
"So what are you trying to get out?"
"You have powers Vincent, whether you know it or not. You may even have powers that are stronger than mine."
"This is a joke right?"
"I assure you I'm being quite serious. I think I can bring those powers out in you, teach you how to call upon them and use them."
"You're saying that you can teach me how to use special attacks?"
"You already know how to use special attacks. You just can't call upon the power to use them. Vincent I've been given three days, if you're willing I'll open up a world that you've never seen before. The road will be rough I assure you, but worth it."
"I don't know."
"Let me ask then do you have anything you feel is worth protecting? Anything that you'd being willing to sacrifice or become stronger for to keep safe."
Vincent turned and looked back at Veruka. "You sure you can pull this off?"
"Only if you're willing to work for it."
"I'll do it."
"We'll start bright and early tomorrow. But I suggest you brace yourself, I'm not gonna be an easy teacher."
Rex turned and walked away. Vincent stood in place somewhat locked in thought. He turned back to look at Veruka once more. "I'll become stronger for you." He walked back over to the fence where Veruka sat.
"Well what did he want?"
"Just wanted to ask me something."
"I see."
Vincent sat on the ground and leaned against one of the fence's post and closed his eyes.
"Going to sleep already?"
"Yeah, promise not to leave me here in the dark."
"As usual. I don't have anything better to do anyways."
Vincent drifted to sleep while Veruka remained on the fence for most of the night before falling asleep on the next post over.
~***~
The sun was barely appearing over the horizon and a thick fog enveloped the area. Veruka and Vincent were still both asleep against the fence. Rex stayed true to his word and was already heading towards Vincent at the very crack of dawn.
Rex came to a stop in front of Vincent who was still asleep. Rex picked up a very same rock and tossed it at Vincent. It hit him on the forehead, awakening him in a surprising matter.
"Wake up." Rex spoke
"Man I know you said early, but come on this is ridiculous."
"Get use to it, I'm gonna wake you up every day at this hour. I won't be afraid to go with a bigger rock either if you don't awaken."
"Seesh, talk about pushy."
"On your feet." Rex barked
Vincent leapt up to his feet in response.
"Much better. Now come on."
Rex led them down onto the shore of the sea.
"So what are we gonna do first? What about breakfast?"
"Breakfast will come after your first exercise."
"So what is my first exercise?"
"You will see."
They soon came to a cliff wall overlooking two wooden posts. Rex brought the two of them to a stop before it.
"Firstly, I have a few things I want you to watch me do. Afterwards I want you to do the same."
"Alright."
Rex took a spot a few feet away from Vincent. He stood on one leg and closed his eyes; he took a deep breath and then exhaled. He brought his hands together in front of himself; he brought them apart moving them both upwards where he held them in place once again. After a few moments he brought them back down to his side and opened his eyes.
"Remember this position."
"Gotcha."
Rex leapt up onto the post. "This is your first exercise. One key to using your powers is maintaining a strong sense of balance. Mentally and Physically." Rex once again stood on one leg. He closed his eyes once again and took a deep breath and exhaled. He brought his hands together in front of him. His hands moved upwards again and held them in place for a few moments. He brought them back down to his sides. His eyes shot open and his forced his right palm forward and Cliff wall in front of him cracked. The crack crumbled open revealing a perfect round indention in the cliff wall.
"Woah."
"It's very effective in this condition, but one must be able to perform this in a split second while in combat. Want to learn how?"
"Why would I say no to that?"
Rex leapt down from the post. "Alright then get on the other post and I'll instruct you." Vincent climbed onto the top of the post. "Very good. Now lift one leg and balance yourself on the other." Vincent did as Rex spoke. "Now focus on that cliff wall, imprint it in your mind."
"Okay."
"Now when you get the image solid, close your eyes." Vincent shut his eyes. "Now take a deep breath in hold it for a moment and then exhale while keeping the image of the cliff in your mind." Vincent once again did as Rex said. "Bring you hands together directly in front of you." Vincent brought his hands together. "Now hold them for a few moments. Now lift them upwards and bring them apart." Vincent brought his hands up and pulled them apart. "Now I want you to picture a very realistic sized hole in the cliff wall, about the same hole as mine. Now I'm going to want you to bring you hands down to your side. Imagine that hole forming in that cliff wall in front of you. When that hole is fully formed, open your eyes and thrust your right hand forward."
Vincent brought his hands down to his sides. He opened his eyes and thrust his right hand forward. However instead of the wall cracking Vincent lost his balance and fell off the post onto his back. Rex brought his hand over his eyes and shook his head.
"I told you. You got the maintain balance."
"I was trying."
"Try the exercise again."
About two hours went by and dozens of fail attempts with them. Every time Vincent would lose balance or nothing would happen when he thrust his hand forward.
"Why isn't this working? It's the easiest most basic exercise I have."
"Maybe we should try again after breakfast?"
"Fine go eat your breakfast."
Vincent ran off towards the ranch house.
"I'm afraid I have my work cut out for me. Doesn't matter he has powers and I will bring them out even if I have to beat him senseless to do so."
~***~
Vincent was eating breakfast on the fence where he and Veruka sat last night. Veruka walked up behind him.
"You woke up before I did this morning. That is odd for you." Veruka spoke
"Oh yeah I guess I did."
"And what were you and Rex doing down there on the beach?"
"He was just showing me a little something to put a bit more punch in my kick."
"Why do I get the feeling your lying to me."
"I'm not lying to you Veruka. I mean why would I lie to you?"
"I don't know."
Vincent took the last piece of food into his mouth and quickly chewed and swallowed it. "Alright I'll catch you later; I got something I need to do."
He leapt off the fence and scurried off in search of Rex. When he got back to the beach Rex was still standing near the two posts.
"Alright Rex we can continue."
"We're gonna do a different exercise."
"Alright I'm game."
~***~
Two of the three days Pogy gave Rex had went by. Rex tried dozens of different exercises to try to bring out Vincent's powers. Everything from stopping rolling boulders, to hopping across wooden posts in a quick manner, to Vincent trying to predict and block any high speed blows Rex threw at him.
By the night of the second day Vincent was beaten, his fur was ruffled, his left eye was black, he was scratched, bruised, and most of all exhausted and aching. Everyone on Jenna's team was questioning Vincent of his condition and showing concern. Even Napoleon was beginning to show interest in Vincent's state.
It was only about eight in the night and Vincent was passed out against the ranch house. Veruka was nearby as usual, and his condition was beginning to trouble her more and more. She wasn't even sure how he got so beaten up over the past two days as he refused to tell anyone. Veruka was almost at the point of hurting just looking at him. Of all Jenna's team she was the most worried, she wasn't sure what to do about it. However she knew the one Pokémon she could ask.
Veruka kneeled down in front of Vincent. She ran her hand gently across his cheek.
"Vincent what's happening with you?" she whispered "I know you're in pain but you don't want to tell any of us. Why are you putting yourself through all of this?"
Veruka looked to the cliff where the tree with the tire swing stood. Rex stood on the edge gazing at the stars. "If anyone know what's going on with you its him."
Veruka began her way towards Rex.
"What to do, what to do? I only have one day left and I don't even know what else I can do." Rex sighed "There's not much more I can do, about the only thing I haven't done is pushed him to his limit. To the point where it is almost life or death."
"Rex!"
He turned to see Veruka approaching him.
"Veruka, what is it you want?"
"I want answers."
"You seem quite Aggressive in stance and speech."
"Because I'm ready to beat your hide to the point of what Vincent looks like. Namely if I don't get answers."
"Ask me a question and I'll answer."
"What's going on with Vincent? He's woke up at the crack of dawn every day the past two days. He's came back after being out all day, exhausted and beaten. It's worst tonight than it was last night. What's the deal?"
"Vincent is trying to better himself Veruka. I am only helping him."
"What by beating him till he's purple?"
"He agreed to do whatever it took."
"But your killing him!"
"If I felt he has had enough I'd tell him to stop! Veruka listen, Vincent has powers. Powers beyond anything I could probably even imagine. If I can help him release them he'll be strong as ever, maybe even enough to help us put an end to Dark Oak once and for all."
"But still! You don't have to allow him to get in condition like this!"
"I don't have time to take this slow and gentle!"
"Then I won't let him continue!"
"Veruka! The only one who can stop him is himself. Not me, not you, but him and him alone!"
"I'm not going to allow him to kill himself."
"Then give him a choice. Tell ask him to stop. If he chooses to do so then so be it, but if he chooses to continue don't stop him. He has his reasons for wanting to do this."
"Then that's what I'll do." Veruka turned to leave
"Veruka."
"What?" she asked turning slightly
"Please forgive me. May I be ask you one thing?"
"Go ahead."
"Tell me have you ever seen him use his powers before the past few days." Veruka remained silent. "Veruka please."
"He used Psychic twice. He became somewhat offended by me one day when I didn't believe him when he said he used psychic once. He then somehow used psychic and I saw his memory of using it the first time. Just like I was there."
"I see."
"You have your answer."
"I'm gonna be coming for him at the crack of Dawn Veruka. If you want to give him a choice, give it to him then."
"I will."
After she was out of ear shot Rex began pondering. "So he used his powers when he got angry. Maybe it's time to mix tactics. I won't take this lying down! If nothing else has worked then nothing left but to push him to his limit. I'll bring invoke his anger and make his powers show."
~***~
The night went by. Veruka spent the night right by Vincent's side. Dawn was beginning to break and Veruka was expecting Rex at anytime. Vincent woke up, somewhat surprised Veruka was right there against him.
"Veruka?"
"Vincent. You alright?"
"Yeah, just sore. You look not so good though."
"I'm just fine."
"Veruka, I can tell when you're upset about something."
Before Veruka could answer Rex walked up.
"Veruka
Vincent
"
"Alright Rex I'm ready to go at it."
"Vincent." Veruka spoke. "You don't have to go with him. I know you've been putting yourself through all of this. But you don't have to."
"Veruka, I want to do this." He replied getting to his feet and walking over to Rex.
"You're doing nothing but killing yourself."
"I'm sorry Veruka, but I got my reasons to do this."
"His mind is made up Veruka; you know you can't stop him."
Both of them walked off, leaving Veruka.
"Vincent
You stubborn idiot
"
~***~
Rex brought Vincent to a clearing. Several cliff walls were scattered throughout the area, but there was little else in the area. Rex came to a stop; however he didn't turn to face Vincent.
"So what are we going to do today?" Vincent questioned. Rex remained silent tilting his head downwards slightly. "Um
Rex?"
"Forgive me
" Rex whispered
"Huh?"
Rex turned and quickly formed an aura sphere and launched it towards Vincent. Vincent caught off guard didn't have time to react and was hit head on and sent flying backwards a few yards.
"Rex what the hell?!" Vincent exclaimed
Rex simply growled and charged towards Vincent. He leapt up into the air and then dove. Vincent just managed to move as Rex slammed his fist into the ground where Vincent was standing. He quickly pulled up his fist from the impact crater and charged Vincent. His fist slammed into Vincent's gut, cause him to expel a bit of drool and knock the wind out of him as he flew backwards again. Vincent hit the ground and rolled onto his back trying to desperately to bring air back into his body. Rex stood still a few yards back once again looking slightly downwards.
"What
" Vincent coughed "Was that for?"
Rex responded by slamming his foot onto the ground cause a trail of sharp edged rocks to burst forward out from him towards Vincent. Vincent quickly leapt out of its path, but before he could do anything else Rex had already charged up and punched him in the face. Vincent hit the ground and rolled. He looked back at Rex.
"What are you doing?" he asked as a small bit of blood ran out from his lips.
"Fight back!" Rex yelled as he charged again.
Vincent leapt to his feet as quick as he could and tried to raise his arms to guard. Rex hit the ground with his hands flipping his body upwards before swinging his legs forward knocking Vincent to the ground once more.
"Fight back!"
Rex brought his fist up and thrust it down towards Vincent, who quickly rolled out of the way. Rex roared and thrust his body forward as a wave of dark energy burst from him. The wave hit Vincent and brought him down to his knees just as he had gotten back to his feet.
"Fight back! Why won't you fight back!?"
"I don't want to fight you Rex, but if that's what you want."
Vincent charged forward pulling his arm back preparing to throw a punch. Right as he swung, Rex sidestepped and took hold of Vincent's arm and pulled him straight over his head slamming him into the ground, just as Nova had done to Veruka.
Vincent felt pain shoot up and down his back. He got back to his feet despite the pain and charged forward again. Vincent swung his leg up at Rex. Rex stopped Vincent's kick grasping his foot. He swung Vincent around and tossed him to the ground.
Vincent rolled a few feet before coming to a stop and picking himself back up. Rex roared again and thrust his body forward as the same wave of dark energy shot forth again. As before it hit Vincent bringing him to his knees. Balls of light began to form around Rex as he held his hands out in front of him. The balls of energy gathered in Rex's palms and grew to a large orb, just before Rex launched it forward. The orb struck Vincent sending him flying back onto the ground.
Vincent groaned and rolled himself over onto his stomach and tried to lift his torso as he gazed at Rex.
"Why isn't this working
? He's at his physical limit. He's in a state where he would be fighting for life. Looks like I'll have to change the tactic some." Rex thought to himself.
"Rex, why are you doing this?" Vincent spoke
"Vincent!" Both grew silent for a few moments. "You're a weak fool!"
"What?"
"You're pathetic! You give all Lucarios a bad name!"
"Now that isn't true."
"You can't even hit me let alone fight back! Even now when your life could very well be considered on the line, you can't even muster the strength to get back to your feet!" Rex paused for a second gazing at Vincent. "You're so pathetic that you can even do something as simple as balance on a wooden post!"
"Rex why are you saying all this?"
"Everything you have pulled off has been shear dumb luck. I don't even know what I was thinking when I thought I could teach you. You are a failure through and through and that won't ever change!"
"So be it then! Because I can't and I won't change who I am!"
Rex grew silent. "This isn't enough; he's barely even getting mad. It doesn't make sense though. Every time he used his Powers he was angry." Rex thought to himself. Then everything came rushing to Rex.
~***~
"Veruka!" he yelled again. Instinctively he pulled his hands back and then lunged them forward from them came a powerful blast of blue and yellow energy. The orb slammed into the Drapion sending it flying back a few yards.
Vincent ran over to Veruka who was still on the ground. "Veruka! Are you alright." Veruka exclaimed as he dropped to his knees beside her. He extended his hands towards her head and brought her face up from the ground. Vincent was somewhat shocked at what he saw. Veruka had tears coming from her eyes, and blood was still slowly flowing out of her mouth from her jaw.
"Come on Veruka, get up your gonna get muddy down there." Vincent said
"I don't even want to get up; I don't even know if I can."
"All this because you lost one battle?!"
"You don't understand
I was the strongest of the team and I lost to a fool like her. It's a bad example to the team."
Rex was still watching Aaron scold Nova. "Well good to see Aaron is still as passionate to his honor system as usual." Rex looked over to where Veruka, Vincent, and Lily stood. His eyes shot wide open as he saw a massive amount of aura energy coming from Vincent. Rex closed his eyes and shook his head for a moment.
"Veruka!" Exclaimed
Rex watched her being lifted up. "Damn it if only I could move my arm."
"Let her go!" Vincent yelled, as fear and anger overtook him.
Rex turned to look at Vincent and his eyes shot open as widely as possible in response to seeing the massive Aura he had saw before surrounding Vincent.
Vincent instantly pulled his arms back and moved his hands close together. He then thrust his arms and hands forward and a large aura sphere launched out from them towards the Honchkrow.
Rex's eyes were still wide as could be, as knowing Vincent couldn't even use special attacks to see Vincent launch an Aura sphere larger than his own.
The Aura sphere slammed into the Honchkrow, causing it to drop Veruka. It plummeted into the freezing water of the lake. Veruka closed her eyes tightly as she fell bracing for impact.
Vincent stood behind Veruka, on the brink of tears. "I know! But I did it! I managed to use psychic once! Why don't you believe me?!" as soon as the words escaped his lips his memories of using psychic rushed into Veruka's head.
~***~
"Of course
It's because of her! Not because he was angry, he was defending her!" Rex exclaimed within his head.
Rex gazed at Vincent for a few moments as he gathered his thoughts from his sudden realization.
"I'm wrong Vincent
"
Vincent's face gained a confused look.
"You're not the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. There is one other thing that I believe is truly more pathetic than you
And that thing is Veruka!"
Vincent's face turned from confused to slightly angry upon hearing those words.
"She is weaker than you! She can't even beat Nova, who is a somewhat weak Infernape."
"That's not true." Vincent said with a slightly aggressive tone
"Hell even you somehow managed to evade injury from the Dark Oak corps. Veruka however was beaten severely by each one she's fought. Truly she's more pathetic than you!"
Vincent began to feel his blood boil as Rex continued.
"I swear the only thing sadder than you two separately is the thought of you together as a couple. It's laughable the two weakest things in the entire world together as a couple."
"Shut
up
"
"You know maybe I could make her mine. I wouldn't mind a lovely submissive Infernape for any purpose I deem worthy."
"Shut up!" Vincent yelled as he shot up forward from the ground. He slammed his fist into Rex's gut with all his might. Rex was sent flying backwards in a state of shock. He fell to the ground and rolled before getting to his knees gasping for air. "You can talk all the crap you want about me." Vincent spoke in an aggressive tone while walking towards Rex. "But nobody! I mean nobody! Talks crap about Veruka in front of me!" Vincent swung his leg forward kicking Rex back to the ground.
Rex got to his feet, just as Vincent charged forward. Vincent began throwing a flurry of punches at Rex. Rex quickly began blocking each punch, but yet struggling trying to keep up. Vincent then threw another fierce kick knocking Rex back.
"He's fast, more aggressive, and stronger than before." Rex thought
Rex Charged forward and threw a flurry of punches at Vincent. Vincent began blocking every punch Rex threw, without breaking a sweat. Vincent threw a quick punch into Rex's gut forcing him back again. Vincent charged forward, and Rex began to do another swinging kick to knock Vincent off balance. As soon as he swung the kick Vincent leapt up and over Rex and grasped Rex's leg as it came back around. Vincent tossed Rex aside onto the ground.
Rex got to his knees and looked at Vincent. The massive aura he had seen before was present. "There it is. His powers have finally shown. He's able to read my aura now just like I could do his. That's why he was able to block and counter everything I threw at him. It also explains his increased speed and ferocity. I've never seen him move this fast and attack so aggressively." Rex thought. "If he can read my aura it's time to switch to special attacks.."
Rex got to his feet and quickly launched an aura sphere at Vincent. Vincent then quickly launched an aura sphere of his own in response. The two spheres crashed together causing a moderate size explosion. When the dust cleared, they both saw each other completely unharmed.
Rex slammed his foot on the ground unleashing a trail of edged rocks in Vincent's direction. Vincent stood in place as the rocks quickly advanced towards him. Right before the trail hit him he brought his arm back and then swung it forward. The Rock trail's forward advance was smashed into pieces.
"Incredible he stopped my stone edge just with a swing of his arm."
Vincent's aura sensors shot up and began to glow blue. A large boulder was ripped out from a nearby cliff wall. The boulder was emitting a blue aura just like the aura on Vincent's aura sensors. The boulder shot forward at Rex. Rex launched an aura sphere shattering the rock in dozens of fragments. All the fragments were consumed by the blue aura and shot forward at Rex. Rex quickly leapt out of the way onto a cliff wall as all the stones slammed into the cliff wall below him.
"That's an intense psychic if I've ever seen one before."
Vincent extended his arm out and another boulder burst free of a cliff wall. He swung his arm forward and the boulder launched towards Rex. Rex leapt out of his spot and over to another part of the cliff as the boulder smashed into the cliff wall. Vincent launched an aura sphere at Rex as he leapt again to dodge. Vincent launched another sphere, and once again Rex dodged. Vincent continued his onslaught. Soon Vincent roared and thrust his body outwards and a wave of dark energy shot forward. Rex was unable to dodge and it knocked him to the ground from his perch.
He got to his knees just as Vincent launched an aura sphere. Rex was barely able to launch an aura sphere to stop Vincent's. The explosion from the spheres colliding threw Rex back. Rex gazed at Vincent who was breathing deeply. Vincent launched another Aura sphere, Rex quickly dodged it. As he looked around he saw all the damage Vincent had inflicted on the area. Multiple holes had been blown in the cliff walls. Shattered rocks cluttered the area.
"This is bad, he's gone into a frenzy. He doesn't care what or who he hits, as long as he gets to me. He's no better off than an enraged animal. I need to stop this now, before somebody comes up and gets hurt or I get killed."
Rex launched an aura sphere at Vincent, who quickly countered with one of his own. Before Vincent could respond Rex was already up on him. He threw a powerful punch into Vincent's gut. The impact knocked Vincent back dazing him. Rex quickly tripped Vincent with a kick and then quickly leapt over Vincent and gripped his arms around him holding him in place.
Vincent struggled and roared. Despite all Vincent's attempts Rex had him pinned in place, the battle was over.
"Let me go you two faced, pile of crap!" Vincent yelled
"Vincent! Still your body and your tongue and listen. Everything I said was a lie Vincent! I didn't mean anything I said a little while ago." Vincent stopped his struggling. "Do you realize what you have been doing this whole time?"
Vincent's eyes widened "I was using special attacks and my aura that whole time."
"Exactly! Now can I trust you enough to let go of you?"
"Yes I swear I won't attack."
"To let you know if you do I'll kick your ass right back onto the ground." Rex released Vincent from his grip.
"I can't believe it! I used my powers! Perfectly!"
"Vincent!" Vincent set his attention on Rex. "Forgive me, my pride would not allow me to accept defeat. I wouldn't have been satisfied if I had not brought your powers out."
"I should be the one telling you sorry and also thank you."
"No
Despite releasing your powers I've realized something. You can only call upon your powers from rage."
"So what I'll just get really mad when we fight Dark Oak next time and cream him."
"No! Vincent take a good look around you."
Vincent's joy was cut short as he realized all the rubble and damage to the land around them. "I didn't do this did I?"
"Yes you did Vincent
You did all this just trying to get me." Vincent became shocked "If you use your powers in rage, you'll go after the source of your rage with full force. This whole time you were fighting me with your powers you were simply like a wild animal. You didn't let anything get between me and you
Only now you realize how much damage you've done."
"But
I
"
"You can't use your powers in rage. If you became enraged like this while battle Dark Oak there's no telling who you were hurt or even kill trying to get to him. You could hurt something extremely precious to you and not even know it until it was all over. You'd be no better than Dark Oak that way."
Vincent stared towards the ground in disbelief of what he was doing. In truth he wasn't aware of everything he was doing during the fight. The only thing he could focus on was Rex, nothing else mattered.
"I'm sorry Vincent but I cannot and will not teach you to use your powers when they can only be released by rage
I've failed you
and I've failed myself."
Rex turned from Vincent and walked away.
Vincent fell to his knees. He slammed his fist on the ground, a sob followed. Tears began to run from Vincent's eyes. "Why
?" He sobbed as he slammed his fist against the ground again. "Even if I want to become stronger I can't! I'll end up hurting someone. My stupid powers had to be unleashed by anger!" Vincent took in a deep breath which was followed by another sob. "I can't get stronger! I can't get stronger for myself
I can't get stronger for my friends
" he whimpered and loudly sobbed "I can't become stronger for
Veruka!" he yelled. He sat there crying as the sun began its descent.
"Cairo" Vincent spoke as he got up as well.
I must know. What was said here DX!?!?!?!?!?!?
Really, I have nothing negative to say. I'm absolutely jealous of your uncanny flair for drama and your perfect pacing when it comes to conversations. I sincerely wish I were as adept as you. I just want you to know that I now look at you as a role model for my own writing ability and style. And from one writer to another, I can't think of any better way to show my praise. I'm not going to tell you "Great job." Instead, I'm going to say "Thank you."
I must say thank you to you as well

I got scared when Rex said he might make Veruka his. Of course, it pushed Vincent over his limit of self control. Damnit Rex, don't provoke him like that! -_-
